It is not surprising Howard Dean feels he may need to disregard millennia-old concepts of representative government. After all, he modified his conception of divine salvation over a dispute about bike paths.
As recorded on CNN, he mentioned he and the DNC may need to “Get the candidates to get together and make some kind of arrangement” as to the identity of the democratic nominee for president. One assumes a passing acknowledgment of the will of the voters would at least inform such an arrangement.
No reason, of course, to let the will of voters actually determine such a weighty decision. We’re so much smarter now.
